Mexico is home to several renowned universities, including both our exchange destinations: the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education. These universities offer a wide range of academic programs across various disciplines, including arts, sciences, engineering, social sciences, and business. University life in Mexico is vibrant, with numerous extracurricular activities, sports, and cultural events. Students can join clubs, participate in community service, and attend cultural festivals, which enrich their overall experience.

The University of Helsinki offers exchange opportunities at the following universities in Mexico:

  • For students of all faculties: Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Tec Monterrey)

Who can apply?

  • Students of all faculties
  • Bachelor’s level students only
  • Students with Spanish or English skills at least on level B1
  • Students with minimum GPA of 3,2

Faculties not open to exchange students

  • Campus in Santa Fe is not open to exchange students from University of Helsinki

Minimum 15 local credits per term, recommended workload up to 18 credits.
1 Tec Monterrey credit = 1.67 ECTS.

  • Students of all faculties
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s students. Bachelor students must have completed at least 2 years of study at the time of their exchange.
  • Students with Spanish skills at least on level B2.  
  • Students with minimum GPA of 3,0

  • Placements are highly uncertain in Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine

UNAM does not offer dormitories, exchange students can apply for housing through  CEPEN  (the site requires registration)
